Truck Wells

Every facility has at least one and even though it is usually in the back of a building doesn’t mean it doesn’t need to look good. We like to check out truck wells and what we’ve found surprised us. At the one next door to us we found that not only was it slightly bent but it was also rusting. Our solution to this is the Ideal Shield Steel & Plastic handrail system. It will not rust and the plastic will not fade. In the picture below the black handrail was installed over seven years ago and it still looks brand new. We’ll keep our eyes out for more examples of truck well handrail.

Keeping hospital patrons safe

Customer Need
The Rockford Memorial Hospital in Rockford,Ill. needed a handrail system designed to keep patrons off a dangerous section of the roof. They did not want to install the system directly into the roof, yet it needed to withstand the proper weight and force. Also, due to the constant presence of children near the rail it needed to be built with spaces small enough to prevent children from climbing under or through the rail.

The Ideal Shield Solution
With the help of Sam Furman of Furman De:Signs, we designed and manufactured a custom anodized aluminum handrail system mounted on steel sled-mounts, The sled mounts provided the weights and strength to withstand children climbing on it and allowed for an installation that did not include penetrating the roof membrane. The system also featured a railing design that deterred patrons from climbing through, over or around the rail.

Powder Coated Guardrail

Customer Need
Our customer came to us for the strongest guardrail on the market because of their strong focus on safety but needed a lower cost solution. They did not want a welded system and also wanted the benefits of it being modular.

Fading Due to Sun?

Not Ideal Shield bollard covers. We believe in providing our customers with a quality product that will not fade even when in direct sun light. Sounds like a no brainer but for some companies that isn’t always the case. We found some bollard covers that had faded from repeated exposure to sunlight. Not only does it look bad but costs the customer more money and time.

We focus on providing maintenance free products at a fair price, not products that need to be replaced due to fading. Its embarrassing for the customer and should be embarrassing for the manufacturer which is why we provide high quality products to every customer, every time.

Unexpected Safety

The Telway Diner on Michigan Avenue in Detroit was part of high speed police chase. An multi-vehicle accident occurred during the chase and one of the vehicles was pushed into the bollards surrounding the sign. Without the bollard protection the Telway sign easily could have tipped over onto the popular burger joint or worse onto an innocent bystander.

During the clean up process the bollards needed to be replaced and Ideal Shield covers helped improve the look of these very important safety precautions.

This is another great example of how taking that one extra step of installing bollards protects people and the investment of hard working people.

Snow Friendly Sign Base

Customer Challenge
Due to heavy snow fall this school district needed mobile sign bases that were higher off the ground so they could easily be pulled through several inches of snow.

Ideal Shield Solution
We put our heads together and decided that a larger 5″ wheel attached to the base would get it up higher off the ground. We also installed a 3/4″ pipe with rubber stops to front of the base to keep in level when in place.
